Fenugreek for Testosterone Support

Strong evidence 7 studies

Research suggests that fenugreek may support testosterone levels and related hormonal outcomes in both men and women, with the evidence base including several randomized controlled trials, a 2019 narrative review, and additional experimental studies in human participants and animal models. Across these studies, fenugreek extracts were generally associated with increases in free and total testosterone, improvements in sperm quality parameters, and favorable shifts in other sex hormones, with one trial in resistance-trained men suggesting a possible mechanism involving inhibition of enzymes that convert testosterone to other hormones. Studies in women also indicate potential benefits for hormonal balance and sexual function, including increases in free testosterone and estradiol alongside reductions in low sexual desire. That said, limitations worth considering include relatively small sample sizes in several trials, short study durations, the use of proprietary or patented extracts that may not generalize to all fenugreek products, and a 2025 in vitro study finding that higher concentrations of a fenugreek microgreen extract actually suppressed testosterone production in isolated Leydig cells — a reminder that dose and formulation may matter considerably, and that findings from controlled laboratory conditions do not always translate directly to human outcomes.
