The current evidence base is composed almost entirely of in vitro and animal studies, with very few controlled human trials, which means the relevance of these findings to human health remains uncertain and the field's own authors consistently call for clinical research before firm conclusions can be drawn. Notably, factors such as cultivation method, extraction technique, and the specific mushroom species appear to influence the potency and profile of anti-inflammatory activity, suggesting that not all culinary mushrooms are interchangeable in this regard.
