Chyawanprash for Anti-Aging

Preliminary evidence 6 studies

Research suggests that Chyawanprash may have anti-aging properties, with preclinical studies in mice demonstrating protective effects against skin photoaging and improvements in cognitive function alongside reductions in oxidative stress in aged animals. Supporting this, an ingredient-level study identified inhibitory activity against skin-aging related enzymes in one of Chyawanprash's constituent herbs, and an Ayurvedic review literature characterizes the formulation as stalling the aging process, while a clinical study in children noted improvements in vigor and vitality alongside a reported delay in aging. However, the overall body of evidence is limited in its translational value, as the majority of supportive findings come from animal studies, ingredient-focused research, and traditional reviews rather than robust human clinical trials. A 2022 review examining the human clinical trial evidence specifically found that despite Chyawanprash's longstanding popularity, the scientific support from controlled human studies remains surprisingly sparse, highlighting a significant gap between traditional claims and rigorously validated evidence.
