B12 and folate work together in the methylation cycle and red blood cell formation.
B12 is required to convert methyltetrahydrofolate back to THF, which is needed for DNA synthesis. Deficiency in either impairs the other.
Supplementing both together is beneficial. Note: high-dose folate can mask B12 deficiency symptoms — ensure adequate B12 intake.
